The biggest drawback of European universities in the eyes of American students, is the lack of flexibility when it comes to choosing a major. Instead of applying to the school itself, when you apply in Europe (with a few exceptions) you apply to the specific major, and as courses will be so concentrated from your freshman year, transferring majors is highly discouraged as in many cases it not possible without fully restarting your degree.
